Play Your ‘Holy’ Cards Well

The science of decision making is precise and impressive. More importantly, it is functional.

It has many non-scientific competitors. One presents like this: “just go throw a bunch of something at the wall and see what sticks.”  I like that.

Starting a blog, or a business, running a home, or any other creative endeavor requires major cognitive energy. It can quickly become overwhelming and exhausting. There are countless false starts, competing mental narratives, and the erroneous desire for perfection. Cognitive overload leads to serious well-being issues.

At this point, the messy option of ‘throwing something at the wall’ is, well, it’s inviting. There is an element of fun in just saying it.

For an equivalent, and scriptural, idiom we might hear “cast your net wide.”  When we are in search of something illusive or mysterious, it does seem that casting a wide net would improve our chances of finding what we are looking for.

Creativity is easy for me. Implementation is indescribably difficult. I have allowed it to become destructive.

Life experiences, perception, traits, and disposition can leave us with a symphony of interior voices. A good thing. Played poorly, we are left with a cacophony. That is destructive.

I desire to play my cards well. No! I desire to play my holy cards well. I desire to overcome paralysis when time strikes the hour of implementation. I desire to nurture and curate an active writing life.

Yes, I do know the direction I hope my words will take. I do know which one or two voices I pray rise and predominate. But, bearing in mind the current state of implementation inertia, I will allow each voice its opportunity. Each voice may speak. Call it a rhetorical free-for-all.

Throw your best at the wall and we shall see what sticks. You have my permission. There is a single caveat. Go in peace
